Nandan opens cultural centers for free
To further enrich people’s cultural lives, and enhance their cultural level, Nandan county in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, has opened the county cultural center, library, eco-museum and all the township cultural centers to the public for free as of this year, according to national policies.
The new county library has provided traditional services such as book reading and lending since the opening up after the National Day holiday. It has also held a series of activities like the reading month, photographic exhibition, free computer training class and poetry lectures in order to satisfy local residents’ basic cultural needs. Ran Xiushu, the director general of Nandan’s cultural and sports bureau, said, “Our library opened on Oct 1st this year. At the moment, 262 residents own a library card. A total of 22,200 readers have come to the library and 22,600 books have been lent out.
Nandan county’s cultural center offers training classes in calligraphy, painting, photography, musical instruments, literary and artistic creation, fitness dancing and folk literature and art. According to statistics, from January to October this year, Nandan has held 35 artistic performances and trainings, benefiting an accumulative total of more than 60,000 people.
Li Lake Baikuyao Eco-Museum has held activities of “Cultural Memory”, “Cultural Reception” and “Cultural Performances” after the free opening of the service platform. All the township cultural centers have also improved their free service offering ability.
The free opening of the central centers in Nandan county has benefited a continuously increasing number of people. This action has obviously enhanced the service level of the Nandan government and the degree of satisfaction from the local residents.
