According to Hechi’s elders serving office, two senior Hechi residents, Huang Mieyi – 117 years old, and Luo Miechang – 116 years old, were included in the ranking list of the seventh China Top 10 Longevous People, in sixth and ninth places respectively.

The top 10 oldest people are from six ethnic groups coming from seven provinces, with an average age of 119.7 years old.

Huang Mieyi is a member of the Zhuang ethnic group coming from Bama Yao autonomous county and Luo Miechang is a Yao ethnic group member from Du’an Yao autonomous county. The two senior women are both in healthy physical condition and can take care of themselves.

Since 2010, Hechi’s centenarians have been selected into the China Top 10 Longevous People list for five consecutive years. Up to the end of 2013, Hechi had a total of 785 senior people aged from 100-109 and 23 people over 110 years old. There is an average of 19.48 centenarians for every 100,000 Hechi residents, which outclasses the new standard of becoming a Chinese Longevity Town.

At present, Hechi has a World’s Longevity Town – Bama and three Chinese Longevity Towns – Donglan, Bama, and Fengshan. Another five counties (cities), namely, Yizhou, Luocheng, Tian’e, Du’an and Dahua, have reached the standard to apply for the moniker of Chinese Longevity Town.
