Hechi’s tourist numbers and tourist income both increased in the National Day golden week this year.

It received 1.16 million tourists during the week, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 15.03 percent; and it achieved 281 million yuan ($45.89 million), a year-on-year growth of 22.56 percent.

Compared with the National Day golden week in former years, day trips became most tourists’ first choice. The one-day tourists accounted for 74.58 percent of the gross numbers and most of them came from surrounding cities and provinces, such as Nanning, Liuzhou and Libo in Guizhou province. In the meantime, tourists preferred to choose newly-developing scenic spots. The Geyasi Valley in Nandan county welcomed more than 10,000 people on its first day of opening on Oct 1.

Self-drive tours remained the hot favorite. However, many tourists changed their travel times to Oct 2 or 3 to avoid the traffic peak. On Oct 3, the majority of scenic spots in Hechi were crowded with travellers. These self-drive tourists were mainly from Nanning and Liuzhou in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Guangdong, Yunnan and Guizhou provinces outside the region.
