After six years of hard work, Hechi Jinchengjiang Airport, in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, opened to traffic, on Aug 28, at a cost of 850 million yuan. It sits adjacent to National Highway 210 and about 40 kilometers from downtown Hechi, and the soon to be built Hechi - Baise Expressway will pass by it, shortening the distance from the airport to the downtown area to 28 km. Work on the airport began back on Dec 3, 2008. It has passed inspections and flight tests of aviation authorities and has met all design requirements. This is a domestic feeder airport that meets the requirements of the CRJ900, E190, B737-700 and A320. The has a runway 2,200 meters long and 45 meters wide, a linking taxiway 137 meters long, a freight terminal with 375 sq m, a main terminal of 4,641 sq m, and 2,597 sq m of parking space. It has opened its Chongqing-Hechi-Haikou route via China Express. The Chongqing-Hechi-Haikou flight leaves Chongqing at 7:05 am, arrives at Hechi at 8:15 and reaches Haikou at 9:55. The Haikou-Hechi-Chongqing flight leaves Haikou at 10:05 am, arrives at Hechi at 11:55 and gets to Chongqing at 1:45 pm, after taking off at 12:30 from Hechi.

A Hechi Airport Co spokesperson has said that there are special lines from downtown Hechi to the airport to make it easier for passengers getting to and or from the airport with a stop at the Hechi Hotel. This opening means that Hechi has a more fully developed transportation network via road, rail, and air, which is significant for its economic and social development.
