Kaiyang vitalizes culture, tourism with rural lodging

Over the past years, Sanhe village in Shuangliu town, Kaiyang county, has vitalized villagers' idle farmhouses.

Meanwhile, the village has upgraded lodging facilities, provided regular training for homestay hosts, introduced 24-hour health concierge services, and set up essential facilities like medical service points and express delivery stations to improve the overall lodging experience.

The village has also attracted visitors with unique cultural and sports activities like long-table banquets and basketball tournaments, while partnering with professional travel agencies to organize tours to scenic spots such as Nanjiang Grand Canyon and Huangguoshu Waterfall.

Kaiyang has utilized its local strengths such as its cool climate and folk customs, focusing on six main priorities: creating model homestays, revitalizing unused farmhouses, enhancing support facilities, integrating selenium-rich industries, attracting more external visitors, and boosting brand marketing.

To date, the county has 390 lodging properties, 2,360 rooms, and over 4,200 beds.

Moving forward, Kaiyang plans to introduce an online lodging booking mini program and enhance unique attractions such as selenium therapy and rural study tours.
