The first steel frame of the Kaiyang combined heat and power plants and supporting facilities project has been successfully installed, marking the official start of the project's main plant construction.

Located in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, the project is a key provincial project designed to support the Kaiyang Industrial Park. It is the first of its kind in Guizhou province, utilizing clean and efficient units for heating, which aligns with the "dual carbon" energy-saving and emission reduction targets.

Once completed, it will significantly improve the central heating conditions in the core area of Kaiyang Industrial Park, playing a crucial role in establishing a modern industrial park worth hundreds of billions in Kaiyang.

Construction of the project began in early April last year, with the first unit expected to be operational by next year. The total investment for the project is approximately 2 billion yuan ($282.06 million), covering a planned area of about 380 mu (25.33 hectares). The first phase will supply about 4.1 million metric tons of steam annually and generate about 700 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.

Once in operation, the project is expected to generate an average annual revenue of about 1 billion yuan and create around 200 jobs.

The main plant covers an area of approximately 50,592 square meters. The project includes constructing an air compressor room, dust collector support foundation, urea workshop, desulfurization integrated building, boiler makeup water treatment workshop and laboratory, industrial wastewater treatment workshop, and more. This area is the production core, responsible for raw material supply, steam and electricity production, and compliant pollutant discharge.
