Village benefits from cultivating distinctive industries

In recent years, Miping township in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, has actively adjusted its industrial structure by cultivating distinctive industries, establishing industrial chains, and expanding sales channels, paving a new path to a prosperous rural life.

With an average altitude of 794.9 meters, over 300 frost-free days, and double the national average selenium content in its soil, the township is ideal for fruit cultivation. So far, the township has planted 21,432 mu (1428.8 hectares) of fruits, including yellow peaches, plums and citrus, with a production area of 18,565 mu and an expected yield of 14,602 metric tons.

Innovative approaches have been employed to structure the industrial chain, utilizing models such as "government + village collective + enterprise" and "government + village collective + large-scale growers + ordinary farmers". A peach industrial chain integrating nursery cultivation, technical guidance, and peach sales has been established.

With a 15-mu yellow peach seedling base and 3,050 mu of yellow peach cultivation, including 23 excellent varieties, the projected yellow peach yield is 150,000 kilograms for 2024 and 500,000 kg for 2025.

To broaden sales channels, the township recently mobilized a delegation to attend a peach promotion event in Beijing. The delegation discovered that the market there for the township's superior peach varieties, such as Jinxi 363, is promising.

In addition, in order to ensure ample peach sales, Miping is exploring new sales models like online telephone pre-orders and group purchases in WeChat mini-programs, combining online and physical channels to facilitate nationwide peach sales.

Moreover, long-term purchase agreements have been established with Shenzhen Baiguo Yuan Industrial (Group) Co and a long-term cooperation agreement with SF Express has been signed.
