Nanmudu town pioneers in high-quality organic agriculture

In recent years, Nanmudu town in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, has been working to promote the high-quality and efficient development of its agriculture, aiming to build a modern agricultural demonstration zone that is "green, organic, and selenium rich", thus achieving rural vitalization.

Nanmudu town began to employ the technology of corn-soybean strip intercropping in 2022. In order to achieve double harvests via this technology, in 2024, the town has been focusing on planting area, planting model, mechanical support, scientific fertilization, and disease and pest control, so as to achieve its 5,000-mu (333 hectares) plan for corn-soybean strip intercropping.

In addition, the town has arranged for agricultural technology experts to provide services and promote the use of new agricultural machinery such as seeders and harvesters. These efforts allow new technologies, models, and concepts to be introduced in the fields and provide new ways to stabilize grain production and increase soybean yields.

"So far, 370 mu of farmland has been plowed in Xinfeng village, including 230 mu of high standard farmland. With high standard farmlands, many places can operate agricultural machinery in the fields," said the village director, Wu Wanguo, when explaining how Xinfeng village has managed to expand its agriculture this year.
