Kaiyang county in Guiyang city – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – worked hard to promote its wide-ranging development last year.

It focused on the fields of education, healthcare, employment, culture and sports in order to continue improving its people's lives.

In particular, five construction projects for schools in Nanmudu town and Longgang town were carried out and eight kindergartens were erected and started operating, with the gross enrollment rate for preschool education in the county reaching 96.43 percent.

What's more, the construction of six key projects was completed, including the county-level medical sub centers of Longgang town and Nanmudu town.

The participation rate of basic medical insurance for urban and rural residents remained stable at over 95 percent throughout the year, while the overall level of medical treatment was significantly improved.

Meanwhile, a total of 6,054 new jobs were provided in the county, with 4,025 new university and college graduates employed. Four community elderly care service stations were built and put into use to expand the effective supply of eldercare services.

In addition, the upgrading and renovation of six township-level cultural stations and 55 village community comprehensive cultural service centers were completed, with 14 fitness projects established.
