Kaiyang improves county functions in 2023

In 2023, Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, continued to promote a new people-centered type of urbanization by enhancing infrastructure construction and improving the county's layout and functions.

Specifically, the county constructed 1,500 affordable houses and addressed safety issues caused by self-built houses. A household waste sorting center was put into use, achieving "zero" landfill of household waste throughout the county.

In addition, 133 million yuan ($18.35 million) was invested to build a total of 27 "15-minute living circle" projects, including health service stations, community elderly care service stations, and public toilets. Furthermore, five public parking lots were built, and 30 new energy vehicle charging stations were installed.

Meanwhile, 14.71 million yuan was invested in the renovation of 213 old residential areas, 823 shantytowns, and 11 streets and alleys. The renovation of historical buildings such as the exhibition halls, Confucian temples and academies was also completed, and the county's greening maintenance covered an area of 5.5 million square meters in total, with 30,000 sq m of greenery added.
