Red pomelo boosts rural development in Kaiyang

In recent years, Qinghong village in Kaiyang county has been planting red pomelo and has reaped many benefits from the red pomelo industry.

The village has adopted a "village collective economy + villagers" plant model wherein the village provides technical guidance for villagers planting red pomelo. The village has also encouraged neighboring farmers to partake in red pomelo picking and processing to earn money.

So far, the village has planted over 200 mu (13.33 hectares) of red pomelos. This year, the yield per mu exceeds 1,500 kilograms.

Yu Zhiliang, head of the village, said, "This year, the village welcomed a bumper harvest for red pomelo. This plant model not only fully mobilizes the enthusiasm of villages to participate in the development of the industry, but also helps them earn more money by working near their homes."
