The high-standard wheat in Zhaiji village of Kaiyang county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is ready for harvest, with a total yield of 360 kilograms per mu (0.07 hectares).

In recent years, the village has planted over 1,000 mu of wheat featuring strong adaptability and disease resistance as well as high yield. To increase wheat yield, the village has also made efforts to promote mechanization throughout the whole process, from planting to harvest.

In addition to the mechanization, the village has employed large combines to harvest the wheat, which has greatly saved on time and costs, at only 80 yuan ($11.25) per mu.

Moving forward, the village will plant rice and upland rice and encourage locals to use idle winter fields to grow grain and oil crops to ensure food security. It will also provide more related services including mechanical harvesting, seeding operations, and field management to help farmers lower costs and increase their incomes.
