Now entering their period of maturity, the loquats from Hefeng township in Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, are being marketed in large quantities.

Benefiting from the township's natural selenium-rich soil and climatic advantages, locally produced loquats boast an egg-sized fruit that is plump, juicy, and deliciously sweet.

It is reported that more than 4,000 mu (266.67 hectares) of loquat trees, with two different varieties, have been planted in Hefeng township.

Currently, 4,200 mu are bearing fruit, with an estimated yield of 420 metric tons.

Calculated at a market price of 5 yuan ($0.72) per kilogram, the production value is approximately 37.8 million yuan this year, which is expected to increase the income of over 300 households of farmers in the township.
