Kaiyang protects people in need

english.guiyang.gov.cn|Updated: 2023-04-17

Since the beginning of this year, strong efforts have been made by Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, to safeguard the livelihoods of local residents.

According to statistics, the Kaiyang civil affairs bureau issued a total of 19.35 million yuan ($2.79 million) in subsidy funds from January to March.

The funds benefited 11,330 people in total, including urban and rural subsistence allowance recipients, those in extreme poverty, those with severe disability, de facto unsupported minors, and orphans.

To help more people in need, Kaiyang has strengthened data sharing and data comparison with departments such as education, human resources and social security, housing construction, and medical insurance.

The move is intended to promptly detect households that have escaped poverty, marginal households that are prone to poverty, and families with sudden and serious life difficulties, which makes it easier to follow up on those in need as soon as possible.
