Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, saw a boom in tourism during this year's Spring Festival holiday, which ran from Jan 21 to 27.

A total of 252,000 tourists visited Kaiyang over the seven-day period, a year-on-year increase of 41.41 percent. The tourism revenue generated during the holiday reached 142 million yuan ($21.19 million), an increase of 45.37 percent over the same period last year.

Because Kaiyang is located near urban Guiyang, many people from the city visited the county during the festival. Fruit-picking tours, family tours and driving tours were the most popular activities among tourists.

An abundance of tourist activities, including strawberry picking, jungle crossing, cloud walks and super swings, were able to meet the personalized and high-quality tourism needs of tourists.
