Strong efforts have been made to boost the integrated development of culture and tourism in Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Cultivating practitioners of intangible cultural heritage items, such as Yangxi opera, Dixi opera, batik and embroidery, is among the important measures taken by Kaiyang.

Since the beginning of this year, Kaiyang has held four training sessions on batik and embroidery of the Miao people in Pingzhai village in Gaozhai township as well as Mingde Square in Hefeng township, during which more than 100 trainees participated.

In addition to the training of professional intangible cultural heritage practitioners, Kaiyang has set up an experience gallery for batik and embroidery for tourists in Mingde Square.

What's more, the Guizhou Shuidong (Kaiyang) Cultural and Creative Research Base officially opened and started offering classes on painting, calligraphy and batik.

Elsewhere, Kaiyang has sped up the development of special agricultural products such as selenium-enriched oil, selenium-enriched tea, Kaiyang noodles, Nanjiang loquat and grapes, and has further turned these agricultural products into special tourist commodities.

At present, 18 categories of tourism products have been launched in Kaiyang to meet the growing demand among tourists.
