To ensure the safety of drinking water for rural residents in Kaiyang county, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, a water network plan has been compiled and is waiting for approval.

According to the plan, the construction of the rural water supply pipeline network will take into account the rivers, valleys, watersheds and other topographical and landform conditions in Kaiyang county.

It will rely on water sources such as small and medium-sized reservoirs that have been built or are currently under construction, and stable and reliable water sources such as large springs in karst caves in its jurisdiction, to build large-scale water supply projects and pipe network extension projects.

Meanwhile, Kaiyang will build six large-scale water plants, renovate or expand six large-scale water plants, and upgrade two water plants.

Additionally, 60.04 kilometers of new water pipelines will be built, and 11.78 km of water pipelines will be renovated.

When the projects are put into use, they are expected to benefit 148,900 rural residents in 18 of Kaiyang's towns, townships and sub-districts.
