Vegetable supply is stable in Kaiyang

Amid the recent outbreak of COVID-19 in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, the city's Kaiyang county is seeing a sufficient supply of vegetables and prices are remaining stable.

The county's vegetable planting area is 64,000 mu (42,700 hectares). And an average of 260 metric tons are available on the market daily in Kaiyang, mainly cabbage, pepper, winter melon and pumpkin.

In addition to meeting the daily vegetable needs of the 350,000 permanent residents of the county, Kaiyang can provide vegetables for nearly 180,000 people outside the county.

Moving forward, Kaiyang plans to grow an additional 2,000 mu of fast-growing leafy vegetables in the county to ensure the market supply and accelerate the cultivation of vegetable seedlings in autumn and winter.
