Liuyu village in Kaiyang county in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has become a model for Kaiyang in its efforts to attract migrant workers to start businesses in their hometowns.

The village is now the home to Guizhou Tiancai Clothing Co, established in March this year with an investment of around 10 million yuan ($1.51 million).

The company was co-built by Liuyu village and Liu Tiancai, a successful entrepreneur in East China's Fujian province, who now serves as the company's chairman.

The clothing company covers an area of 900 square meters and has 120 consoles.

It mainly processes and produces tools, school uniforms and foreign trade processing clothing, with an average daily production of more than 2,000 pieces.

When the company was first established, it recruited about 50 local workers for free training, and most of them are now employed.

The company's production today is mainly based on the processing of foreign trade orders, and its order volume is relatively large, according to Liu.

The company's sales volume in the past few months has reached an average of 70,000 to 80,000 items per month, Liu added.

The company has so far recruited more than 70 people, most of whom are left-behind women at home. This not only generates extra incomes for local women, but also makes it easier for them to take care of their families.

Liu said that his company plans to expand in scale and create more jobs for locals.
