The Kaizhouhu Bridge on the Weng'an-Kaiyang Expressway passed a load test on Dec 9, proving its safety and reliability.

A total of 72 trucks weighing 2,520 metric tons drove onto the bridge and remained stationary for around half an hour to see how the bridge would react to a heavy load.

According to an analysis of the bridge load test data, the Kaizhouhu Bridge met its design requirements.

The successful test means that the bridge should be able to open as scheduled on Dec 30.

The bridge is Asia's fourth largest mountainous canyon type suspension bridge, and it is also the third largest mountain steel truss suspension bridge in Guizhou.
