Residents of Kaiyang county – administered by Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province – have reportedly been enjoying a great deal more convenience in their lives from much better and more efficient government services.

That's in the wake of the launch of the Implementation Plan for Rural Government Service version 2.0.

Currently, Kaiyang county administration can handle 142 township-level government services items, 44 items at the village level – while 1,340 items at the township level and village level can be handled online.

Meanwhile, since the initiation of a rural government service pilot project, Kaiyang has invested more than 10 million yuan ($1.5 million) to build 18 township or sub-district government service halls and 130 village service stations for residents.

A total of 448 people have been employed to serve local residents at them, either on a full-time or part-time basis.

Additionally, since the start of the year, Kaiyang county has initiated an agent d'affaires pilot service – where special agencies help locals handle some government application items for free, so they don't have to apply by themselves. These have been established at the township, village and group levels throughout the county.

To date, they have cumulatively handled more than 60,000 practical items for locals, saving residents more than 6 million yuan in lost wages and transport expenses.
