Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is making efforts to provide medical insurance guarantees to residents relocated as part of poverty alleviation efforts.

The measures include medical insurance payments, medical treatment, and reimbursements for medical expenses.

A total of 4,581 people are covered by local urban and rural resident medical insurance, and 55 people are covered by other urban and rural resident medical insurance.

Also, a total of 170 people are covered by local employee health insurance.

Relocated people who have risen from poverty will be subsidized at a standard of 140 yuan per person if they are covered by medical insurance.

Those included on the minimum living allowance list and relocated people in extreme poverty will be subsidized at a standard of 280 yuan ($42.01) per person.

Meanwhile, Kaiyang county has implemented preferential medical expense reimbursement policies for relocated people who are poverty-stricken and enjoying minimum living allowances.

When the aforementioned people apply for critical illness insurance, the medical reimbursement threshold will be decreased by 50 percent, while the reimbursement ratio will be increased by 5 percentage points and the upper limit will be removed.

Within the annual limit of medical assistance and among relocated persons who benefit from the policy, the reimbursement proportion of individuals who pay for hospitalization expenses should be at least 70 percent so as to ensure that people can receive assistance.
