The Dahua tunnel along Provincial Road No 207 finished renovation and upgrading on July 28. The road links Gaozhai township in Kaiyang county to Xianqiao township in Fuquan city.

The 390-meter-long Dahua tunnel is located in Pingzhai village, Gaozhai township, Kaiyang county.

It began operating in November 2004 and serves as an important transport channel from Kaiyang county, Guiyang to the city of Fuquan, Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture.

Due to the low construction standards of the original tunnel, its old age, and erosion from rain, the previous Dahua tunnel was considered a safety hazard.

In 2020, the Guizhou Provincial Transport Department included the Dahua tunnel in the province's tunnel quality upgrading project, and the upgrading project began in March this year.

Total investment in the Dahua tunnel exceeded 27.4 million yuan ($4.11 million), and the construction period lasted five months.

The entrance and exit of the tunnel have been extended by a total of 10 meters, and the net width was increased from eight to nine meters.
