Kaiyang welcomes crowds of tourists over Dragon Boat holiday

Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received 324,300 tourist visits during the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday, marking a year-on-year increase of 91.91 percent, according to local media reports.

During the three-day holiday from June 12 to 14, the county saw tourism revenue of 163 million yuan ($25.46 million), a year-on-year increase of 261.78 percent.

The county launched various tourism products during the holiday, relying on its rich tourism resources.

The Nanjiang Grand Canyon scenic area, the Houer Tiankeng scenic area and the Shilihualang scenic area all proved to be popular during the holiday. Meanwhile, flower viewing, suburban tourism, drifting, parent-child experiences and traditional culture exchanges were all the rage among tourists.

Comprehensive COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures were taken during the holiday, with tourists required to have their body temperature measured, keep a 1-meter distance from others, wear masks and show their health codes.

No safety accidents or major complaints were registered during the break.

The county will continue to focus on its tourism resources and develop more characteristic tourism routes and products to optimize tourism services and drive rural revitalization.
