Kaiyang's tourism revenue hits 380m yuan during break

Kaiyang county in Guiyang -- the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- received 788,500 tourist visits during the recent May Day holiday, marking a year-on-year increase of 45.4 percent, according to information released from the county's culture and tourism bureau.

Tourism revenue during the five-day break hit 380 million yuan ($58.82 million), an increase of 70.79 percent year-on-year.

In the run-up to the holidays, the county organized various departments to coordinate novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control measures and programs to ensure the safe production of its manufacturing sector.

The county also launched various forms of tourism activities, in order to boost spending. During the holiday, it took measures to ensure the safety of tourists and no safety accidents and major complaints were registered during the break.

The Nanjiang Grand Canyon scenic area, the Houer Tiankeng scenic area, Yunshan Chahai and the Shilihualang scenic area all proved to be hits during the holiday. Rural experience tours featuring strawberries, cherries, loquats, waxberries and other fruit picking were also popular.
