Kaiyang to build 500 5G base stations in 2021

Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, plans to build 500 5G base stations in 2021, according to local media reports.

China Mobile will undertake the project and ensure its smooth progress.

Kaiyang county has established a leading group to coordinate and support the work, which will help advance new urbanization and develop a smart city.

As of the end of February, 74 new 5G base stations had been built, bringing the total number of 5G base stations in Kaiyang county to 296. This realized sufficient coverage of the county's core areas and partial coverage of its townships and towns.

According to officials, after the construction of the 500 5G base stations is completed, 5G signal will be available in 16 townships and towns, offering great convenience for residents.
