Kaiyang improves education environment during 13th Five-Year Plan period

Kaiyang county in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has dramatically improved its education development environment during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).

In the past five years, Kaiyang county has continued to increase its investment in education and continued to promote six key projects, including pre-school education development, the balanced development of basic education and high school education resource construction.

The county has built eight kindergartens and rebuilt and expanded 15 kindergartens. It also built three primary schools, two middle schools and relocated one senior high school.

Meanwhile, since 2016, Kaiyang county has equipped 23 schools with 829 student computers and 399 teachers' office computers and provided 110,000 books and nine sets of laboratory equipment for schools under its jurisdictions.

In addition to improving teaching facilities, Kaiyang county attaches great importance to hiring skilled and professional teachers and providing them with career development support.

Over a five-year period, Kaiyang county hired 493 faculty members for its public schools, raising the total number of school employees in the county to 4,175.

Also, Kaiyang county organized teaching training courses for teachers. Training opportunities were provided to 2,350 kindergarten teachers and 2,944 primary and middle school teachers.
