Kaiyang selenium-rich products shine at Beijing expo

Products from Kaiyang county in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, proved popular among purchasers at the 2020 Beijing International Selenium-rich Agro-products and Functional Foods Expo, which was held in Beijing on Nov 20-22.

Kaiyang county was invited to attend the expo as a member unit of the China Selenium Industry Summit (Se20).

An exhibition area divided into four parts was set up by Kaiyang county to display more than 20 kinds of selenium-enriched products such as eggs, grains, oils and noodles.

Over a three-day period, all Kaiyang products brought to the expo were sold out, and the county's exhibition area received more than 400 batches of buyers.

The county also obtained invitations from Nuoxing Tianxia (Beijing) Agricultural Technology Development Co, Shandong Huayunbo Culture Media Co and Beijing Fendao Technology Co to sell products on their platforms.

Kaiyang officials explained that 99.91 percent of the soil in the county is rich in selenium, and the selenium content of animals and plants is between 0.05 and 0.28 mg/kg, which meets the United Nations Health Organization's selenium content standard for health food.

The selenium-rich rice, oil and tea produced in the county has won the honorable title of China Organic Food.

The Beijing expo provided an opportunity for Kaiyang county to promote its products to the domestic market and expand its online and offline marketing channels.
