Grateful Kaiyang county awards its sanitation workers

Southwest China's Kaiyang county praised the hard work of its sanitation workers on the 23rd Sanitation Workers' Day on Oct 26, according to local officials.

They said the sanitation workers had made great contributions to the county's development and the county held a series of activities on the day to showcase their work ethic -- and meanwhile to encourage people from all walks of life to have more understanding and consideration for environmental sanitation work.

"We want all officials and workers working for the environment of the county to continue to demonstrate their selfless spirit and make more contributions to build a more beautiful Kaiyang," said Zhang Yong, deputy mayor of Kaiyang county.

Zhang also called on people from all walks of life to pay respect to the work of sanitation workers and give more support to them.

Those who took part in the celebration activities included Tong Zuqiang, deputy Party secretary of the Kaiyang county committee; Wang Hong, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of Kaiyang county and Tan Huanghe, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of Kaiyang county.

A total of 40 sanitation employees were given excellent sanitation worker awards in 2019.

Officials said that during the celebration, cultural activities such as dancing and singing took place.
