2 Guizhou square dance teams to perform on national stage

The 2023 National Square Dance Convention Achievements Exhibition is set to be held on Oct 29 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province. The square dance performances "A'xi Lixi" from Bijie city in Guizhou and "Miao Miao Dance" from Guiyang have been selected for the exhibition.

The two Guizhou square dance teams will compete on the same stage with another 23 outstanding square dance representative teams from all provinces and regions across the country, showcasing to the nation Guizhou's unique culture, the charm of square dance teams, and the province's achievements in cultural development.

"A'xi Lixi" features elements of traditional folk culture, preserving the distinctive musical and dance styles of the Yi ethnic group while boldly innovating in both music and dance by incorporating fashionable elements into square dance and infusing the work with new meaning. It vividly portrays the people's pursuit and longing for a better life.

"Miao Miao Dance", a newly choreographed dance from Guiyang, is characterized by its uniqueness, demonstrative qualities, and promotional appeal, fully showcasing the ethnic and regional features of Guizhou.
