Idle farmhouses advance rural tourism in Huaxi

Qiantao township in Huaxi district is famous for its comfortable weather, beautiful scenery, and rich culture. The township has recently been working to develop itself as a destination for short trips.

The township has adopted models of "enterprises + farmerholds +village collective" or "farmerholds + village collective" to revitalize idle farmhouses. By renovating and utilizing idle farmhouses to develop homestays, local villagers have seen a significant increase in their incomes.

Chen Zhengyun, a local homestay owner, said there are 11 rooms in his homestay. Since this June, it has received three batches of visitors from cities such as Wuhan and Chongqing. Some visitors stayed as long as two months.

After the end of summer, he plans to improve his homestays for next year's business, he added.

Moving forward, the township will continue to promote its short-stay industry by focusing on better product design, new operating models, and improved publicity, enabling local people to boost their income.
