Huaxi promotes education upgrades

The new campus of Yunding Primary School in Gaopo township, Huaxi district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently held an opening ceremony for the new semester. 

"The relocation of the new campus of Yunding Primary School is a key education and poverty alleviation project in Guizhou. The new campus is twice the size of the old campus," said Peng Kefen, director of Huaxi district's education bureau. 

In the spring semester of this year, Gaopo Central Wanquan Primary School, Gaopo Wuzhai Primary School and Gaopo Wuzhai Kindergarten also opened to students, increasing enrollment capacity by 1,260.

To further promote the balanced distribution of educational resources, Huaxi district's education bureau has in recent years accelerated the construction of public schools and improved school conditions in the district.

In 2021 alone, 10 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in the district were repaired and renovated, 17 new primary and secondary schools and kindergartens were built, and enrollment capacity increased by 10,370. 

The bureau has selected 96 excellent teachers from 28 urban schools in the district to serve in primary and middle schools and kindergartens in local townships and towns since 2021, alleviating the shortage of rural teachers and expanding the rural coverage of high-quality educational resources. 

In addition, the bureau has held special lectures and teaching and research activities, and carried out teacher rotation exchanges to promote the balanced development of educational resources.

Next it will focus on improving the quality of education in Huaxi district and increasing resources for preschool education, basic education, and high school education.  

"Huaxi will comprehensively promote the revitalization of rural talent, improve the quality of teachers, promote the high-quality and balanced development of education, and work to build more schools," said Peng.
