Liu Changxiao

Liu Changxiao, born on May 15, 1942, male, is a famous pharmacokinetic expert in China, academician, researcher and doctoral supervisor of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

In 1965, he graduated from the Department of Pharmaceutics of Beijing Medical College (now the Peking University School of Pharmaceutical Sciences). In 1992, he was awarded special allowance by the State council, and in 2003, he was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. 

Liu is currently dean of the School of Chinese Materia Medica of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, honorary dean of the Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and director of its Academic Committee, director of the State Key Laboratory of Drug Delivery Technology and Pharmacokinetics, and director of the nano biological medicine evaluation research center of the China National Institute of Nano Technology and Engineering. 

He also works as an executive member of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia Commission, and is vice chairman of the council of Chinese Pharmacological Society, executive vice chairman of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, director of the Professional Committee on Drug Metabolism of the Chinese Pharmacological Society, chairman of the Tianjin Pharmaceutical Association, chairman of the council of the Tianjin Pharmacological Society, and director of the ISSX China Office. 

He is a professor and PhD instructor of many well-known universities in China such as China Pharmaceutical University and Shenyang Pharmaceutical University.

He has been selected as a National Model Worker and National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker, and has won the Hong Kong Bauhinia Medical Achievement Award. 

He is reputed as "contemporary Shennong" (the legendary emperor who pioneered China's farming and medical industries) and one of the pioneers and leaders of China's pharmacokinetics discipline.

On Sept 22, 2019, a statue of Liu Changxiao was erected in the Shennong Thatched Cottage Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine by Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited.
