The Embodied Intelligence Sub-Forum of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum was held at Guangzhou Nansha International Convention and Exhibition Center on Dec 8. Nearly 250 tech enterprise representatives, together with university experts, scholars, and research institution heads, gathered for in-depth exchanges on key topics: cutting-edge technologies in embodied intelligence, interdisciplinary integration, and industrial ecosystem development. The event aimed to pool expertise and drive innovation and long-term development across the Greater Bay Area and nationwide.

Key unveiling and signing events took place during the forum. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST) launched its institute of embodied intelligence, with the Guangzhou humanoid robot system innovation hub (in preparation) also inaugurated on site. HKUST (Guangzhou) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center to deepen industry-academia-research collaboration.

During the academic session, morning keynote speeches were delivered by Academician Chen Xin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the afternoon agenda was chaired by Professor Chen Lei, dean of HKUST (Guangzhou)'s Information Hub.

At the roundtable, guests delved into core topics, including technological routes, commercialization challenges, standard system development, and policy-capital synergy for the industry. They advocated for fostering a sustainable industrial ecosystem through cross-field collaboration, scenario-driven innovation, and long-term investment to support the real economy's transformation.

An on-site exhibition showcased HKUST (Guangzhou)'s key technologies and products in embodied intelligence including HKUST(GZ) humanoid robot 1 (for research, teaching, and logistics) and humanoid robot 2 (adaptable to complex terrains).
