Forum on Carbon Neutrality, New Energy Materials opens
The Forum on Carbon Neutrality and New Energy Materials, a key event of the 2025 Greater Bay Area Science Forum, was held on Dec 8 in Daya Bay, Huizhou, Guangdong province. Focusing on cutting-edge research and the industrial applications of new energy and low-carbon technologies, it aimed to boost innovation and cooperation.

Chaired by Zhang Suojiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and president of Henan University, the forum brought together more than 260 experts, scholars, and enterprise representatives from over 90 institutions and companies worldwide.

In plenary reports, several academicians shared frontier achievements, with Zhang analyzing transformative pathways toward carbon neutrality, covering electrochemical energy storage, hydrogen production, storage, and utilization, and high-end material innovation, noting that AI-chemical engineering integration will reshape future R&D.
To accelerate technology achievement transformation, multiple on-site cooperation agreements were signed, including a project with the Huizhou Institute of Green Energy and Advanced Materials, which aims to build an efficient lab-to-industry transformation channel, representing substantive industry collaboration.

The forum also featured expert-enterprise technical matching and a technology achievement exhibition, fostering direct interaction between academia, industry, and application sectors.
