Greater Bay Area Science Forum highlights AI development

The Greater Bay Area Science Forum 2025 opened on the morning of Dec 7 in Nansha district, Guangzhou, Guangdong province, South China. Later that afternoon, the Artificial Intelligence Sub-forum and the 6th China (Guangdong) AI Summit took place alongside the main event.

Under the theme "AI & Governance", the sub-forum brought together prominent figures such as Effie Germano and over 800 experts from top research institutions and companies such as Huawei, Baidu, Alibaba, JD.com, and China Mobile. Participants discussed advancements in cutting-edge AI technologies, AI innovation and governance, as well as the development and application of large models.

Several notable achievements in the AI sector were announced during the event, including the 2025 AI Frontier Technology Trend Report by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China. Huawei and the Greater Bay Area National Center of Technology Innovation also jointly launched the "Zhihui Xuzhu" large industrial software model. These accomplishments demonstrate China's advancements in fundamental research, platform development, and industrial application in the AI industry.

In their keynote speeches, experts discussed AI's mathematical foundations, deep learning, and full-stack technologies to highlight the latest advancements in AI. They also explored the applications of large models, providing both theoretical perspectives and practical solutions, and outlined the potential future impact of AI across various industries.

During the roundtable, experts engaged in in-depth discussions focused on China's advantages in AI development, the challenges encountered, talent development, corporate social responsibility, and governance, all emphasizing the need to build a trustworthy and mutually beneficial future for artificial intelligence.

The forum underscored Guangdong's dedication to AI advancement through strategic policies and notable progress in AI chips, platforms, and large industrial models, supporting a strong, diverse, and application-focused AI ecosystem.
