Zhao Yuliang

Zhao Yuliang is a chemist, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), fellow of the World Academy of Sciences, research fellow of the Institute of High Energy Physics of CAS, doctoral supervisor and director of the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology. 

In 1985, Zhao graduated from the department of chemistry of Sichuan University and began working at the Nuclear Power Institute of China; in 1989, he studied at the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute; in 1993, he went to study at Tokyo Metropolitan University and received a master's degree and doctor's degree successively; from 1994 to 1998, he was a co-research fellow of the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute and the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology; from 1999 to 2001, he engaged in post-doctoral research at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science; from 2000 to 2001, he was a co-research fellow of the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research; in 2000, he was selected into the Hundred Talents Program of CAS; in 2001, he served as the research fellow of the Institute of High Energy Physics of CAS; from 2005 to 2008, he served as the executive vice-president of the School of Chemical Sciences of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; in 2006, he served as director of the Joint laboratory for Biomedical Effects of Nanomaterials and Nanosafety, CAS; in 2007, he served as director of the Cancer Nanotechnology Research Center; in 2008, he served as director of the Key laboratory for Biomedical Effects of Nanomaterials and Nanosafety, CAS; in 2011, he served as deputy director of the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology; in 2017, he was selected as an academician of CAS; and in 2018, he served as director of the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology and was selected as a fellow of the World Academy of Sciences.

Zhao has long been engaged in nano biological effects analysis and related safety studies. He established China’s first laboratory for biomedical effects of nanomaterials and nano safety.
