Chen Xuesi

Chen Xuesi is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a researcher and doctoral supervisor of the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and vice-director of the Academic Council of the Key Laboratory of High Polymer Materials for Ecological Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

In 2004, he won sponsorship from the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars. In 2013, he was selected into the Science and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Talent Program and 10,000 Talented People Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and in 2016 was elected a member of the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering (IUSBSE). In 2019 he became an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and in April 2021 he was awarded the "National May 1st Labor Medal" by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions.

Chen is mainly engaged in research and development of biodegradable medical polymer materials, tissue engineering and drug sustained-release, and the industrialization of polylactic acid and poly-caprolactone.
