The Greater Bay Area Science Forum, the highest-level scientific event in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, has deepened comprehensive cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, said the Secretariat of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum.

With a permanent venue in Nansha district, Guangzhou in South China's Guangdong province, the forum was initiated by the Alliance of International Science Organizations and is hosted by the Guangdong provincial government.

It aims to establish a platform in the Greater Bay Area for scientists, entrepreneurs and financial experts to exchange views on global scientific developments and cooperation.

The Secretariat of the Greater Bay Area Science Forum has established close working ties with Guangzhou Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone. It strives to expand cooperation in science and technology, actively integrate into the global science and technology innovation network, intensify international science and technology exchanges and cooperation, and bring together politicians, government representatives, top scientists and young scientists at home and abroad, world-renowned innovative entrepreneurs, and financial experts from all walks of life.

"We will build the Greater Bay Area Science Forum into a high-end platform for global scientific development and cooperation through discussion and collaboration," said the head of the secretariat.

A series of exchange activities have been carried out with the Hong Kong Liaison Office and universities in Hong Kong and Macao, to promote scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, according to the secretariat.

Cooperation with universities and scientific research institutions in Hong Kong and Macao will focus on a number of fields such as biomedicine, artificial intelligence, smart cities, and financial technology, and will expand into more science and technology fields.

The forum has functioned as a platform for multilateral cooperation, establishing extensive contacts with well-known domestic and foreign scientific research institutions, universities, colleges and international organizations.

In addition, efforts have been made to build the international brand of the forum, attracting global high-end scientific and technological talents and organizations to gather in Nansha, in a bid to enhance the advantages of international cooperation and competition in the Bay Area.

The Alliance of International Science Organizations, one of the forum’s sponsors, initiated academic conferences and joint research based on its international network consisting of 67 institutions from 50 countries.

Since the beginning of this year, the secretariat has organized a series of activities in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, Shaoguan, and Yangjiang cities, improving advanced manufacturing industry chain in the Greater Bay Area and supporting the digital transformation and new infrastructure of the Greater Bay Area.
