Zhangye Heihe Half Marathon draws nearly 5,000 runners

The 2026 Zhangye Heihe Half Marathon began at Ganzhou Ancient City on Sept 19, drawing nearly 5,000 runners from across China to the autumn Silk Road city. Runners gave it their all, while local residents cheered them on along the route.

The course started and ended at Ganzhou Prefecture City and passed landmarks including Heihe New City Bridge, Lushuiwan Ecological Wetland and Ruoshui Avenue. Along the riverside route, with scenery at every step, runners enjoyed Heihe River's ecological views and Zhangye's urban landscape.

Wang Tao won the men's race in 1 hr 7 min, while Huang Yanfeng took the women's title in 1 hr 18 min.

Runners praised the organization and scenery along the course, with one participant highlighting the event's atmosphere and support services.

Now in its third edition, the Heihe Half Marathon has helped raise Zhangye's profile and promote its cultural and tourism offerings.
