ANTA-established foundation donates $313.56m to build hospital

The Hemin Foundation, a newly established foundation by ANTA, signed an agreement on Dec 19 with Jinjiang government and the Fujian branch of Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University to donate 2 billion yuan ($313.56 million) to build the hospital.
This marked the foundation's first donation since it was established on Dec 19 by ANTA, a leading sportswear company in China, with 10 billion yuan investment.
The foundation is expected to contribute to public welfare projects in medical assistance, sports undertakings, rural revitalization, and environmental protection.
"In respond to the national call of improving the quality of public hospitals during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, ANTA aims to help improve the regional medical service capacity," said Ding Shizhong, the director of the foundation and CEO of ANTA.
The 13.67-hectare Fujian branch hospital is located in Jinjiang, Quanzhou, Fujian province with 1,200 planned beds. It is expected to be put into use before December 2025.
Based on the hospital, a trauma regional medical center will be established in five years, which integrates clinical diagnosis, diagnosis and treatment of severe diseases, teaching and training, scientific and technological research and development, disease prevention, and health management. The center is expected to serve other cities in Fujian and surrounding provinces as well as countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road.
