Situated in the Daxing part of the Beijing Daxing International Airport, the Daxing Campus of Peking Union Medical College Hospital stands as the primary research hub for the National Key Laboratory for Difficult and Rare Diseases.
Collaborating with Tsinghua University and the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, it is outfitted with cutting-edge facilities, including a stem cell platform, mass spectrometry analysis platform, electron microscopy laboratory, supercomputing center, animal experimental center and biological sample bank. This facility is dedicated to pioneering research in major, challenging and rare diseases.
When it begins operating, the laboratory will effectively address several critical challenges in medical science, further strengthening the area’s life and health industry.
2. Daxing Campus of Peking University First Hospital
Daxing Campus of Peking University First Hospital
The Daxing Campus of Peking University First Hospital comprises the outpatient building, the medical technology building, the emergency building, the inpatient building, the research building as well as administrative and teaching buildings, covering an area of 216,000 square meters. It boasts a total of 1,200 beds, including 400 pediatric beds, 200 obstetrics and gynecology beds and 600 general comprehensive beds.
As an integral component of the new development layout of PKU First Hospital, the Daxing Campus is committed to a phased approach, prioritizing outpatient services, platform establishment, and specialized departments, thereby establishing the fundamental concept of major specialized departments and minor comprehensive departments in discipline construction.
It has 42 specialized outpatient departments. With the exception of rheumatology and immunology, stomatology, adult ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and emergency medicine (temporarily closed), appointments for other outpatient departments can be made through WeChat service accounts, 114 and other platforms.
Anticipated daily outpatient visits are estimated at 7,500, and there are 1,167 underground parking spaces available.
The Daxing Campus will establish five prominent medical centers, with the Women and Children's Medical Center, Cancer Treatment Center, Endoscopy Diagnosis and Treatment Center, Critical Care Center, and Interventional Treatment Center serving as pivotal points for strategic development.
It will institute patient referral and consultation mechanisms between the two campuses, offering uninterrupted diagnosis, treatment, nursing and rehabilitation services, ensuring seamless and effective care across both locations.
