Flood storage wetland

The Beijing Daxing International Airport flood storage wetland stands as a pivotal initiative, with the primary goal of protecting the Beijing Daxing International Airport, the new Air Force Nanyuan Airport, the Airport Economic Zone (Beijing) and the surrounding regions from flooding while simultaneously enriching the local environment.

Its initial phase spans 128 hectares and boasts a flood storage capacity of approximately 3.3 million cubic meters.

The Daxing part of the Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone is dedicated to green and low-carbon development, aiming to reach peak carbon emissions and achieve carbon neutrality. It seeks to create a large, green ecological landscape where blue and green elements intertwine and forests and water are interconnected.

Phase 1 project of the Flood storage wetland

The area aims to set up experimental fields to support carbon peak commitments and become a model for the coordinated ecological development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

The flood storage wetland, a key part of the area's green and low-carbon development, not only ensures flood safety but also enhances urban ecological water needs and improves the urban environment through the use of rain and floodwater resources.

In the future, it will be integrated with the Central Ecological Park and other projects to improve aquatic ecology, contributing to the area's dual carbon goals of peaking carbon emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060.
