The Daxing part of the Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone is divided into two distinct sections. The western part spans approximately 26 square kilometers and is designated to host the international life and health industry, international scientific and technological innovation, international schools, international hospitals and supporting facilities. The eastern part, covering about 24 square kilometers, is planned to feature a central ecological park, international exhibition center, international conference center, international consumption hub, national gateway business district and a comprehensive bonded zone.
The zone fully capitalizes on the strategic advantage of Beijing Daxing International Airport as a "new engine for national development", positioning itself as a crucial nexus linking domestic and international economic cycles.
It seeks to optimize the advantages of national policies, such as the comprehensive demonstration zone for expanding the opening of the service industry and the free trade pilot zone. This is achieved by fostering the integrated development of the airport economic zone, the free trade zone and the comprehensive bonded zone.
Embracing the new development stage, it continuously fosters a demonstration area and a pioneering area that embodies the new development concept, serving as an open highland to align with the establishment of a new development pattern.
It also propels strategic growth hubs for high-quality development, a prime destination for global talent innovation and entrepreneurship, a global nexus for innovative resources, and a high-level open platform for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
The zone is aligning with global airport economic zones' development trends and is focusing on the two major attributes of aerotropolis orientation and international interaction, in conjunction with regional economic development needs and resource endowment.
It aims to establish a "1+2+2" aerotropolis industry development system, with a primary emphasis on the life and health industry, complemented by the foundational industries of aviation hub and aviation service support, and supplemented by new generation information technology and intelligent equipment.
The "1" refers to the life and health industry, with a focus on introducing specialized hospitals and life and health industry clusters that offer cutting-edge international medical services. Efforts are being made to attract enterprises engaged in precision medicine, stem cell technology, gene therapy and high-value medical consumables, with the provision of policy support and application scenarios. It also seeks to foster collaborative development with the Daxing Biomedical Base, Yizhuang Biomedical Industry Park, and Changping Life Science Park.
The first "2" represents the two foundational industries of aviation service support and aviation hub services. The aviation service support industry is focused on developing the aviation headquarters, aviation materials, aviation fuel, aviation catering, maintenance, aviation finance, equipment leasing and business jet operation and maintenance. Meanwhile, the aviation hub service industry emphasizes the development of aviation logistics, international exhibitions, technical consulting, and services.
The second "2" represents the two emerging industries of new-generation information technology and intelligent equipment, which serve as reserve industries and are the key development directions in the strategically reserved areas.
The zone is developing a "2-4-6" industrial spatial framework. In it, the number "2" represents the construction of two complexes: an international consumption hub and an international exhibition center. "4" signifies the establishment of four industrial zones: a comprehensive bonded zone, a logistics zone, an international aviation community and an international life and health community. "6" denotes the promotion of six specialized parks: an international aviation headquarters park, an international biopharmaceutical park, an international business complex, a regenerative medicine innovation industrial park, an innovation service center for the free trade zone and a smart medical device manufacturing industrial park.
At the 2024 Industrial Resource Release Conference held on March 18, plans for the construction of four major industrial communities were unveiled. Each community is envisioned as a comprehensive hub for industrial agglomeration, integrating research and development, office space, residential areas, commercial facilities, leisure amenities, schools and healthcare services.
The Life and Health Community will specifically focus on creating a "three-in-one" integration of medicine, encompassing medical research, healthcare services and the pharmaceutical industry. It will feature amenities such as expert apartments and boutique businesses, with the aim of establishing a global high-end medical destination and a center for healthcare and wellness.
The International Aviation Community will bring together high-end service industries with a focus on aviation technology, complemented by modern commercial and business facilities, high-quality residential areas, international schools and eco-parks, creating a high-quality and livable area.
The Comprehensive Bonded and International Logistics Community will be developed as a hub for aviation logistics, international supply chains, international trade, and comprehensive bonded services, serving as a central area for the distribution of pharmaceuticals, high-precision products, and high-end duty-free food products.
The Digital Economy Community will emphasize cross-border data flow, establishing a modern community that integrates industrial vitality and urban vibrancy, serving as a gateway for digital innovation and trade, and providing modern amenities for digital industry services, digital trade, digital products and aviation-themed businesses.
