On Sept 9, at the planting base of Yuanguo Agricultural Development Co in Jindong district, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, villagers dried freshly picked figs and then delivered them to a food processing workshop to produce fig mooncakes for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.

Qian Jichang, a major fig producer and distributor in Jindong district, explained that it is currently the peak harvest season for figs. The variety chosen for making mooncake fillings, known as "Balaonai", is characterized by its high fiber content and fructose levels.

Processing these figs into mooncakes has opened up new avenues for additional income for fruit growers who usually sell fresh figs.
