During the Paris Olympics, people in Paris, France, received a special gift from the Western Returned Scholars Association of Wucheng district in Jinhua, Zhejiang province: posters featuring China's World Heritage sites.
The photos were taken by Wang Jianbo, the association's president, who has captured 55 of China's World Heritage sites with mobile phones.
Wang designed the Chinese World Heritage posters in collaboration with Global People. The posters were sent to Paris, where Liu Youyou, a member of the association, distributed them at iconic locations like the Eiffel Tower and Champs-Elysees, attracting the attention of passersby.
Many recognized the attractions on the posters immediately, like the Great Wall and Terracotta Warriors, expressing awe at China's wonders. Those unfamiliar with China were inspired to visit after seeing the posters.
Wang incorporated some landmarks of Jinhua into the posters, like the Wanfo Tower and Thirty-six Weirs project on the Baisha River, sharing the city's stories alongside China's heritage. Jinhua's charm also shone at a number of Paris landmarks.
This initiative, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as the Paris Olympics, aimed to promote cultural exchange, allowing more people abroad to appreciate the beauty of China.
