The Yiwu-Argentina Day event took place at the Yiwu China Imported Commodities Mall on July 13, supported by the Argentine Consulate General in Shanghai.
The event highlighted Argentina's rich array of products, earning it the nickname "world's granary and meat locker".
Argentina, known for its abundant resources, has become a key trading partner of China. At the Argentine Product Cultural Experience Store in Yiwu, visitors were impressed by products such as olive oil, red wine, yerba mate, and beef steaks.
According to Yiwu Customs, from January to May this year, Yiwu's trade with Argentina reached 670 million yuan ($92.21 million), with the city's exports to Argentina valued at 620 million yuan.
"Yerba mate is Argentina's national drink. Locals say that if you haven't tried yerba mate, you haven't truly experienced Argentina. Now, you can buy authentic yerba mate right here in Yiwu," said Xu Qiuping of Yiwu Ningmeng Import and Export Co Ltd.
Matias Nicolas Babino, deputy consul general of Argentina in Shanghai, praised Yiwu as a vibrant and international city with significant influence in global trade. He expressed hope that the event would increase awareness of Argentina and encourage people to invest and travel there.
Yiwu China Imported Commodities Mall, a leading import trade hub, spans 100,000 square meters and offers 150,000 products from over 100 countries and regions. It serves as a comprehensive center for business, exhibitions, and trade negotiations, making it a premier one-stop import commodity procurement base in China.
