On May 29, a heartwarming care event took place at a special education school in Jinhua, Zhejiang province in celebration of this year's International Children's Day.

The event is just one aspect of Jinhua's broader initiative to become more child-friendly. Since 2022, the city has been allocating more resources in six key areas — social policies, public services, rights protection, growth spaces, development environments, and industrial ecology.

With a total of 63 supportive policies and an investment of 14.58 billion yuan ($2.01 billion), Jinhua has pushed forward 117 major projects and introduced nine customized children's bus routes.

Additionally, on May 23, it unveiled its new Children's Welfare Institute, designed to offer a superior growth environment and care services for orphaned and disabled children across the city.

Jinhua has already established over 50 child-friendly parks, schools, and hospitals. By the year's end, the city plans to incorporate children's outdoor play areas into 72 pocket parks.

To create a nurturing environment for the development of children, Jinhua has curated various activities such as reading campaigns, artistic showcases, exhibitions, and sports events tailored specifically for them.

A total of 1,950 events have been organized, drawing in 324,000 participants and promoting child-friendliness across society.
