Weishan town: A timeless journey through nature and history

Located in Dongyang, a county-level city in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, Weishan town offers a harmonious blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage.

At the heart of the town lies Weishan Mountain, renowned for its dense bamboo forests and pine groves, providing hikers with both a physical challenge and breathtaking views.

This iconic mountain is not only a haven for nature enthusiasts but also a treasure trove of historical sites, bearing witness to ancient volcanic activities. As visitors explore its slopes, they can encounter a tapestry of landmarks that tell tales of the mountain's past.

The town is dotted with an array of ancient villages, each with its own unique charm. Here are several highlights.

Dashuang village, with a legacy spanning over 800 years, captivates photographers with its picturesque vistas, while Baitan village, boasting a history of more than 600 years, showcases over 40 impeccably preserved buildings from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), and early Republic of China period (1912-49).

Guyuantou village, also with a history exceeding six centuries, is home to ancient halls and residences from different historical periods, set amidst bamboo groves and two majestic camphor trees aged over 1,200 years.

Dongfanghong village houses a Sculpture Museum within a residential building, showcasing exquisite wood, stone, and brick carvings that preserve the ancient art of root carving.
