3 Jinhua nature reserves listed as national key terrestrial wildlife habitats

Three nature reserves in Jinhua, Zhejiang province have been designated as national key terrestrial wildlife habitats, as announced by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration on Dec 20, 2023.

A total of 789 nature reserves across the country were included on this list. Here are the details of the three nature reserves in the city.

Nanshan Nature Reserve
The Nanshan Nature Reserve is located in Wucheng district and is the largest nature reserve in the province, boasting a diverse array of wild flora and fauna.

The reserve is currently home to 143 rare and endangered wild animal and plant species, including silver pheasants, yellow-bellied tragopans, black muntjacs, pangolins, and evergreen vines.

Dongjiangyuan Nature Reserve
Located in Dongyang, a county-level city in Jinhua, the Dongjiangyuan Nature Reserve spans elevations from 160 to 848 meters and is rich in flora and fauna, home to over 100 rare and endangered species.

The reserve is known for its conservation of species such as the silver pheasant, reeves's muntjac, and Chinese plum yew.

Dapanshan Nature Reserve
Situated in Pan'an county, the Dapanshan Nature Reserve is a crucial habitat for birds, hosting key protected species such as koklass pheasants, mandarin ducks, and black bazas.
